This heartwarming story of Mrs. Obong, a beneficiary of our program, began experiencing symptoms like tightness and dryness in her throat, along with difficulty swallowing. Initially attributing it to her exposure to dust and cold due to her work as a petty trader, she tried various remedies such as menthol sweets to alleviate the discomfort. However, as weeks passed, she noticed swelling in her neck, accompanied by shortness of breath, signaling a more serious issue.

Financial constraints prevented her from seeking medical attention, and she resorted to using local herbs as a temporary solution. Feeling hopeless and resigned to her fate, she struggled with the undiagnosed condition.

Her situation took a turn in 2014 when she had the opportunity to participate in CSDON ProHealth Medical Mission in Calabar, Cross River State. During the mission, she received a thorough examination and finally received a diagnosis of goiter. She was then placed under observation and provided with the necessary care and support. Her experience and recovery demonstrate the resilience of our dedicated healthcare professionals and is also a testament to the life-changing impact of our medical missions on individuals.

It’s stories like these that make us all proud to be part of such a wonderful organization that brings hope and healing to those who are otherwise unable to access essential health services.
