Event Details

Type: Medical Outreach Program
Date: 11th – 22nd March, 2024.
Time: 8 am – 6 pm
Location: Calabar Women and Children Hospital

Outline of Events

  • Health Awareness Day (HEAD); public health awareness has remained a need in our country. Public health is “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private communities, and individuals.” In Nigeria, public health issues include HIV/AIDS, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, malaria, etc. It is therefore our prerogative at Calabar Women and Children’s Hospital to periodically provide these services to women and children in the state and beyond.
  • Medical Missions (Mms.): This is our social responsibility. Providing a 2-week-long non-paying medical service. Through the support of our sponsors, a team of medical volunteers (volunteer opportunities open to doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, etc.) Services available will include gynecology, obstetrics, nutrition, breast and cervical cancer screenings, antenatal care, fetal care, pediatrics, and surgical interventions. Our medical mission’s target will be to meet the dire needs of very poor mothers and children in the state within the stipulated community service time.
  • Movie Theatre: A modern, fully furnished movie theatre with a state-of-the-art finish has been included within the hospital complex. Why movie theatre? Relaxation has been proven to possess both preventive and curative qualities for some health problems. In line with modern medical practice and proof that CWCH is not just another hospital but a complete health management institution, periodic entertainment, such as movies, will be aired at the hospital. Admitting patients and visitors at a comparative cost

Call for Volunteers:

The heart of our outreach lies in the spirit of volunteerism. We seek dedicated individuals in the following areas:
  • Physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers to deliver expert medical care
  • Administration and logistics enthusiasts to facilitate a seamless event
  • Translators and interpreters to ensure everyone can receive care in their language
  • General volunteers for various support roles throughout the program
Volunteering with us is a chance to make a tangible impact, help improve health outcomes, and educate our community on important health issues
Supporting our outreach through donations enables us to expand our services and reach more individuals in need. Contributions will directly fund medical supplies, operational costs, and the essential resources required to make this event a success. Every donation, regardless of size, contributes to a healthier future for our community.
